Last week I had a bottle of Stout Lord explode! Pow!
What a surprise! And what a mess! Shards of glass everywhere in the room! I found the top minus the cap about 15 feet away!

I'm glad to see the thrown together triple making a reprise, I had pulled my two out and set them on the counter as they were supposed to age. I also pulled out two other beers to actually have with supper. Guess which two beers I opened?
Still a good drink, but wish I had waited a couple months yet.
Cool.
I put some up under CB5.
I'll make an effort to take some non incriminating pictures during symtober fest
In the forum posts there is an icon that will let you insert an image, there is also a wizard for it. It's the little picture looking icon next to the movie camera.
It looks like it is going to need to be posted somewhere online such as flicker or other web server. There may be a way to host images on this site itself, but you'll have to go talk to one of the mods about that.
Ok, really stupid question, but how do you add pictures to this site?
Sounds like you are off to a great start to me.
Update 07/30/2008
After 10 days of fairly active fermentation, the primary settled down and I decided to rack the brew a little early. I've got plans going on this weekend and didn't know if I'd be able to get to it over the weekend. Racked to a 5 Gal Carboy and made sure to strain out any remaining hops & trub. I also did an SG check on it to find out how it's going. SG measured in at 1.028 (corrected) from an OG of 1.077 for ~ a 6.5% ABV currently. I tested the beer used to take the SG reading and other than being flat, it was pretty darn good. A little cloudy yet (the secondary should take care of that), but good color. Already has a good "bite" to it and definitely tastes like a porter should. I think with a little aging and bottle conditioning it will be a good beer. More to come.

Well, I finally broke down and bought all the necessary equipment for brewing at home last week. I also bought ingredients to make my first batch of beer. I decided to go with a Baltic Porter recipe from Northern. My brother came over Saturday afternoon and we got set up.
Recipe was a partial mash with specialty grains (Briess Caramel 80 & 120, Simpsons Black and Chocolate) Steeped until water reached ~ 165 degrees and then removed. Brought to boil and added 3 lbs dark DME and an oz of Perle hops (bittering). 60 Minute boil with 1/2 oz Mt. Hood added at 15 and 5 minutes. Added additional 6 lbs dark LME at 15 minutes too. Cooled to 70 degrees F and pitched yeast starter (Wyeast #2112 California Lager). Yeast was started approx 30 hours before brewing by mixing with sterile 1 cup light malt and 1300ml water mixture. Took about 3 hours from start to finish. OG came in at 1.077 (temp corrected). The recipe stated it should be around 1.075 so I was pretty pleased with myself.
It's currently hanging out in the basement and has been ACTIVELY fermenting for 4 days now. It's fairly dark in the basement and the temp is pretty constant at about 64 degrees.
Anyway, the "plan" is to move to a secondary after about 2 weeks, leave it in the secondary for about 3 weeks and bottle. Then allow it to bottle condition for another 3 weeks (8 weeks total) and it should then be ready for consumption. Recipe stated it should take about 2 months for it to be complete.
Hopefully this will work out.
More later!

I seem to recall taking pics early on, but I think that tradition has fallen by the way-side. But I think it'd be a good idea to send out a reminder that it may be nice to have people bring their cameras and get some pictures of the brew.
I noticed that one of the tasks is getting brew pics up, but I don't recall ever seeing anyone taking pics at a brew. Do we have any pics of past brews, or is that something we are going to have to think about for future brews?
